The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) is ramping up efforts to align its long-term grid development with national energy goals by holding its annual stakeholder consultations for the Transmission Development Plan (TDP) 2025–2050.

A key planning document for the country’s transmission network, the TDP outlines proposed expansion strategies, indicative project timelines, and updates on regulatory and technical developments. According to NGCP, it also integrates renewable energy (RE) and smart grid technologies into the national infrastructure—a priority as the Philippines pursues energy security and decarbonization.
“The TDP is essential to NGCP. It outlines, in broad strokes, our vision for the future of the Philippine energy landscape, focusing on ongoing projects and grid plans,” said NGCP President and CEO Anthony Almeda. “This includes indicative project timelines, regulatory updates, the proposed integration of renewable energy sources, and smart grid technologies to enhance efficiency and sustainability.”

Consultations were conducted across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, and included focused sessions with key agencies such as the Department of Energy (DOE), Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC), National Transmission Corporation (TransCo), Philippine Electricity Market Corporation (PEMC), and Independent Electricity Market Operator of the Philippines (IEMOP).
NGCP emphasized that the annual stakeholder engagement allows for constructive alignment between its grid plans and the evolving needs of the country’s energy sector.
“NGCP values insights and feedback from stakeholders, which are crucial for fine-tuning its plans and programs,” Almeda added.
