P125-M project to energize sitios, off-grid areas in Antique

The Antique Electric Cooperative (Anteco) will implement two major electrification projects worth PHP125 million in the province this year.

Anteco general manager engineer Neal Peter Veñegas, in an interview on Tuesday, said they will implement the Sitio Electrification Program (SEP) and the Barangay Enhancement Program (BEP) funded by the National Electrification Administration.

SEP has a PHP100-million allocation under the 2025 General Appropriations Act (GAA).

“As for the SEP, there will be 23 sitios throughout the province where electricity will be provided,” he said.

Meanwhile, the BEP has PHP25 million in funding intended to provide electricity in off-grid areas in San Remigio and Laua-an towns.

“These off-grid areas used to have mini-hydro as their source of energy,” he said.

He added that with more households applying for the Anteco services, their distribution line is now extending reaching off-grid areas.

“The once off-grid areas are now becoming grid areas because of their proximity to Anteco’s distribution line,” Veñegas said.
